Four seasons of work in the Flathead

Buying a machine in Montana is a different decision than buying one in town. Nobody is coming out to your place on Thursday. So the questions that matter are what engine is in it, whether parts exist, and whether the machine is simple enough to keep running yourself.

The engine is a Kubota — the same diesel that shops across Montana already service, so filters, belts and glow plugs are not exotic parts. The hydraulics use standard fittings.

What these machines do here: building sites and driveways on slope, footings for shops and cabins, post holes along a fence line with an auger, brush and slash piles with a grapple, and once the snow comes, a blade on the front of the same machine that dug the septic in September.

Warranty

Every machine carries the manufacturer’s parts warranty — 1 to 2 years depending on the model. The Kubota engine is covered separately under Kubota’s own engine warranty.
